About the Role

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic HR Assistant to join our friendly Human Resources team based at our beautiful 50-acre estate in Hermitage. This is an ideal opportunity for a bright graduate or HR Administrator looking to develop their career in Human Resources.

Reporting to the Head of HR, the HR Assistant will primarily support the company’s Check-In process to ensure staff are provided with timely and regular feedback sessions in line with the Priors Court performance management strategy. Working in conjunction with the workforce planning team, you will also provide support to the management of absence tracking across the site predominately within the Residential area, and provide general support to the HR advisers.


  • Schedule all check-in meetings for staff within Residential and Education ensuring staff have monthly meetings, with a minimum of 10 meetings during the full annual review process
  • Provide monthly reports to line managers and HR Advisors
  • Conduct monthly reviews to ensure that the objectives and actions set are fair and equitable to the role
  • Support the HR team with any Employee Relations issues that evolve from the check-in process – i.e.  organising any Disciplinary or Grievance meetings and note taking if required
  • Monitor and record daily absences
  • Follow up on absence calls and speak to the individuals concerned
  • Process and manage the Self-certifications and Return to work forms, chasing outstanding documents on a weekly basis liaising with both the employee and line manager where necessary
  • Inform the HR Advisers and the workforce planning team of all Covid absences, and review long-term absences
  • Daily management of the HR mailbox
  • Manage the probation process, using the Prior Insight pulse reports, ensuring that line managers are sent reminders if staff are nearing the end of their probation period.  Liaise with the HR advisers to check when any probation timeframes have been extended and assist with the appropriate paperwork
  • Support the HR advisers with any letters required to reflect changes to terms and conditions
  • Arrange Exit interviews on behalf of the HR Advisers for all leavers and forward the Exit interview form in advance of the meetings
  • Maintain the Employee files and support the transition project moving from paper files to electronic files with the assistance of the HR Coordinator
  • Provide note taking for any confidential meetings and/or interviews as and when required 

About You

  • Passionate about a career in HR
  • A capable administrator with a minimum of one year’s general office experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Problem solver with the ability to manage change
  • Resourceful and self-motivated
