Our client is a charity that provides expert hospice care to over 500 life limited and life threatened children, young adults and families from across central southern England. They are looking for a People & Volunteering Manager for a six month fixed term contract. There is a genuine view to offering a permanent role at the end of the six-month period, subject to business requirements and individual performance.
As People and Volunteering Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering people strategies that not only meet the highest standards of compliance but also create a supportive and engaging experience for employees and volunteers. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, you’ll champion operational excellence, ensure adherence to CQC, IiP and Safer Recruitment practices, and empower managers to lead with confidence. Key Responsibilities
- Foster a positive and engaging workplace culture through effective communication, staff engagement initiatives, and coaching support for managers.
- Lead on employee relations, ensuring fair and consistent handling of grievances, performance management, and workplace concerns.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding for employees and volunteers, promoting inclusive, timely, and compliant practices.
- Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding standards, and sector regulations, maintaining accurate HR records and conducting risk assessments.
- Oversee payroll, pay, and benefits administration, providing guidance to employees and ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement by reviewing HR processes, systems, and policies, monitoring HR metrics, and streamlining workflows to enhance efficiency.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and sector-specific compliance requirements.
- Is an effective coach and communicator, capable of supporting managers and engaging teams across the organisation.
- Can lead recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives with professionalism and attention to detail. Experience in the development of digital onboarding platforms, ideally using PinPoint or SharePoint would be advantageous.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is proactive in driving process improvements and quality standards.

Hours and Benefits
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Salary: £46,000 per annum
